Ding dong merrily on high. What's your favourite carol this Christmas?

YES, Christmas is approaching! While some may feel it’s too early to start celebrating, why not share the true message of Christmas before the retail frenzy bombards us with its endless paraphernalia, urging us to buy whatever is on offer? In the midst of the commercialisation we’ve come to expect during the festive season, the true meaning of Christmas can sometimes be overshadowed. At its core, Christmas is about the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, steeped in rich religious tradition. It’s a time for sharing, for gathering with family, friends, and loved ones, and for helping those less fortunate. Whether it’s enjoying a feast of roast turkey, roast potatoes, and Brussels sprouts, exchanging thoughtful gifts, or simply taking a moment to close out the year with joy, Christmas is a season of togetherness and generosity.

For the EAGA Gospel Choir, this is the busiest and most cherished time of year, as we have the opportunity to share the true spirit of Christmas through our wonderful carols such as Joy to the World, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, and Mary’s Boy Child - some of our all-time favourites. We’d love to know what your favourite Christmas carol is, so please feel free to share it with us in the comments below or email us at eaga@el-eaga.com

We particularly love this time of year because it allows us to bring joy and hope to those who have faced challenges and are looking ahead to brighter days in the new year. Whether we are performing at Christmas concerts, workplaces, shopping centres like Fosse Park or John Lewis, church events, hospital wards, or even going door-to-door, our mission remains the same: to spread Christmas cheer far and wide. Last year, we had the privilege of singing on Christmas Day at a family home as a surprise treat, organised by a gentleman who proposed to his now-wife on that very special day.

Over the years, people have often remarked that hearing us sing truly puts them in the Christmas spirit. The Leicester Mercury once featured us in an article about the telltale signs of Christmas, noting that one of them is the sight and sound of the EAGA Gospel Choir singing carols in the town centre.

The choir has already begun rehearsing for the festive season, and we would love for you to join us at one of our upcoming events:

These are just a few of the events on our calendar, with several others being privately hosted. If you would like us to perform at your event in the lead-up to Christmas and in the New Year, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our booking form or email us at eaga@el-eaga.com to avoid disappointment.
