EAGA Gospel Choir Introduction and Background

We are the Emmanu'-EL Apostolic Gospel Academy affectionately known as the EAGA Gospel Choir (pronounced as 'Eager') established in 2003, a versatile group that performs under the patronage of the Emmanu’-EL Apostolic Church based in Leicester. It is our deepest pride and mission to uplift the spirits of the communities that surround us. This is at the very centre of our hearts in everything we do and has led to an official recognition of our service to the community by The Lord Mayor of Leicester in 2015.

The choir has acclaimed national awards in being crowned the winners of the BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the year 2023. Additionally, we have been honoured to sing on diverse platforms, from being the first Gospel Choir to sing for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on her Silver Jubilee in Leicester.

In 2018 we were on Britain’s Got Talent as the DMU Gospel Choir and made it to the semi-finals (See semi-finals performance here). We have been noticed by the media, where one newspaper said:

“They first reached mainstream attention during Leicester City's Premier League winning campaign when videos of the group performing outside The King Power stadium went viral.
The group were the 2016 winners of the University Gospel Choir of the Year and finalist of the BBC Songs of Praise Choir of the Year 2016.
The group have also performed alongside legendary Leicester band Kasabian on their 2016 tour and were backing singers for two songs on the band's album, For Crying Out Loud.”

We have supported numerous charities which advocate various causes that are dear to both you and ourselves. Our dedication and commitment ranges from singing at the bedsides of hospital patients and residential homes to supporting the 2009 Special Olympics and the Lord Mayor's Appeal. We always endeavour to feed the joyful Christmas spirit during the buzz of the festive season by serenading the streets of cities for weary and even joyful shoppers. In addition to these, we continue to support various charities which include LOROS, Age UK, British Red Cross, to name a few.
